One of the best parts about live event printing isn’t the printing itself—it’s seeing people create something that’s uniquely theirs.

At Hobbies Fair 2026, MonsterPrints had the opportunity to work alongside an incredible community of independent artists to create an interactive experience unlike any we’ve done before.

Instead of producing a standard event giveaway, we invited visitors to become part of the creative process through a collaboration called Super Mega Art Brawl—a crossover where original characters from dozens of participating artists came together in one giant battle scene, personalised by every visitor and printed live on a totebag the spot using a technique called sublimation printing. The concept was inspired by classic fighting games such as Street Fighter and Super Smash Bros., encouraging visitors to mix characters from different artists into their own chaotic battle scene.

What Is Super Mega Art Brawl?

Every year, Hobbies Fair brings together artists, makers, collectors and hobby enthusiasts from across Singapore.

For the 2026 edition, we wanted to create something that celebrated this creative community rather than simply printing another event souvenir.

Together with the organisers and participating artists, the idea behind Super Mega Art Brawl was simple:

What if visitors could create their own crossover between their favourite artists?

Instead of one fixed illustration, each participating artist contributed two original character poses—one performing a special move or attack, and another reacting after being hit. There was no requirement for a specific art style, allowing everything from cute mascots to monsters and robots to coexist in one deliberately chaotic “mish mash.”

The result was a huge collection of original characters from Singapore’s creative community, all ready to be mixed together into completely unique battle scenes and live printing on a totebag onsite! No two designs had to be the same!

From the Artist Booth to the MonsterPrints Booth

The collaboration extended beyond the artists’ booths.

Visitors who spent $20 or more at a participating artist’s booth received a redemption coupon that they could bring to the MonsterPrints booth. The minimum spend applied to purchases from a single participating artist, keeping the redemption process simple for both visitors and exhibitors.

There, they could:

  • Choose characters from participating artists
  • Arrange them into their own battle scene
  • Create a personalised composition
  • Watch the artwork being printed live
  • Take home a custom tote bag

Instead of receiving identical merchandise like everyone else, every visitor walked away with something completely unique.

Even if two people chose the same characters, the layout, positioning and overall composition were entirely different.

That made every print a one-of-a-kind souvenir from Hobbies Fair 2026.

Celebrating Original Characters

One of the things we loved most about this collaboration was seeing so many different artistic styles come together.

Every participating creator has their own unique identity.

Some draw adorable mascots.

Others specialise in monsters, fantasy creatures, robots or quirky characters.

Normally, these characters live within each artist’s own world.

For Hobbies Fair 2026, they all shared the same stage.

Visitors could place characters beside each other, face them off in battle, or simply create the funniest combinations they could imagine.

The more unexpected the combination, the better.

It perfectly captured the playful spirit of both Hobbies Fair and Singapore’s independent art community.

Behind the Scenes at MonsterPrints

Projects like this require much more than simply bringing a printer to an event.

Every character needed to work together regardless of its art style.

The software had to allow visitors to position and combine artwork quickly.

The workflow had to be efficient enough to keep queues moving while still giving every visitor the freedom to personalize their design.

From preparing artwork assets to optimizing the live printing process, our team spent months planning every detail so the experience would feel effortless for visitors.

When everything comes together, the technology fades into the background and the creativity takes center stage.

Why Collaborations Like This Matter

The Super Mega Art Brawl wasn’t just about printing.

It was about bringing together artists who each have their own audiences, art styles and creative worlds, then giving visitors a chance to interact with all of them in a fun and memorable way. Collaborations like this help strengthen Singapore’s growing creative community.

Artists gain exposure to new audiences by “cross polinating”. Visitors discover creators they may not have encountered before. And everyone leaves with a personalised keepsake that tells the story of their own experience at the event.

It’s a simple idea, but one that creates lasting memories.
