Pencil Drop
For this activity, find a pencil and attach two strings around the eraser part (top) of the pencil. Divide the group into teams of two and tie one of the string around the waist of one of the team members and the other string around the waist of another member. Then find a water bottle, and have both members try to lower the pencil inside the bottle without using their hands. This game is a great way in establishing clear channels of communication in order to achieve a common goal.
Watch Where You Step
For this game, you will tape the floor in a shape of any polygon. The area needs to be at least 4m long and 2m wide. The shape needs to be in a form that allows people to get from one side to the other. Inside the shape you’ll place some squeaky toys and some paper marked with an “X”. The papers with the “X” are land mines.
At least two persons will enter the shape and try to make it to the end. They both will be blindfolded and the rest of the team members will try to guide them using only words. If any of the members step on a sheet with a land mine they’ll become frozen. To unfreeze them, the other team member must step on one of the squeaky toys. They cannot go outside the shape and both need to make their way from start to finish.
This game encourages communication between a team, and builds trust at the same time.
15/20
This two-player game similar to Rock-Paper-Scissors. You use both hands on each throw, leaving each hand either fully open (five fingers) or closed (no fingers). While throwing, one player guesses how many fingers will be showing in total, either 0, 5, 10, 15, or 20 – like calling a coin toss. Take turns guessing. When one person guesses correctly, the other one forfeits.
You can play this with more than two people, which makes guessing harder because there are more possible fingers. When one person guesses right, the rest of the table drinks.
Capture The Flag
Two teams each have a flag (or any other marker). The goal is to steal the other team’s flag from their base and bring it back to your own. You can tag enemies in your home territory, which, depending on the agreed rules, eliminates them from the game, switches them to the enemy team, sends them back to their own flag, freezes them until freed by a teammate, or lands them in jail. This game is perfect for team bonding and teamwork!
Night Frisbee
At night, put a glow stick around your neck and toss around a glow-in-the-dark frisbee. It is a simple game, however you will be surprised at how much fun it will be! Be careful not to run into a tree or trip over a rock!
